The project of the Confederation of Industry and Transport "OSH for Foreigners" aims to facilitate access to information and raise awareness among foreign employees about occupational safety and health in the Czech Republic.

Why are we doing this?

The number of foreigners in the Czech Republic is constantly growing; they are joining our economy, and as a result, the overall number of their work-related injuries is also increasing. Specifically, between 2013–2023, this number almost doubled and a half.

Foreign workers account for up to 23% of all fatal occupational accidents (data from 2023). Their share in this statistic has been steadily increasing since 2017.

Most often, foreign workers lose their lives in construction, mining and quarrying, manufacturing, as well as in transport and storage.

According to current data, an average of 68 serious work-related injuries involving foreign workers occur annually in the Czech Republic.

The project "OSH for Foreigners" seeks to ensure that all workers, regardless of their nationality or knowledge of Czech, have access to clear and reliable information on how to work safely and protect their health. That is why here you will find an overview of rights and obligations, practical guidelines for everyday workplace situations, information on risk prevention, the use of protective equipment, or the provision of first aid. Part of the website is structured as a clear FAQ section and supplemented with illustrations and other materials.

Confederation of Industry and Transport

The Confederation of Industry and Transport of the Czech Republic is the largest and most influential business association in the country. As a non-governmental, voluntary, and non-political organization, it represents thousands of Czech companies in industry and transport and promotes their interests at both national and international levels. It plays a key role in the legislative process – commenting on laws, contributing to social dialogue, and striving for a fair business environment across sectors. It also builds bridges between industry, science, and public administration through expert teams, business missions, and cooperation with European organizations.

The content of the website was created with the participation of the Research Institute for Labour and Social Affairs (RILSA), which is a key scientific research institution established by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. It focuses on scientific research and expertise in the fields of the labour market, social policy, family policy, and occupational safety and health (OSH).
